There is a region in downtown Newark, between McCarter Highway and Broad Street which used to be hectic with myriad business and public transportation, it had electric street cars runing up and down the whole day. Coming the summer of 1967, and the infamous Newark riots took place and most of this region was put to the torch and remained half-empty throughout the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

Philip Lepore wrote in Facebook: 57 Green Street, is where the Municipal parking garage is now. I remember working in that building.

Ed Teutsch answered: 57 Green Street would go on to house the Newark Police Credit Union and Office of the Newark Police Department Historian.
