GG1 locomotive at Penn Station platform; Bill Labos wrote at Facebook: In 60s, 70s and 80s I rode on many GG1 pulled Amtrak trains from New Brunswick to Newark and back to New Brunswick first going to school and then working in Newark. Finally in the mid to late 80s, the GG1’s were retired and replaced with modern much more efficient locomotives. But there will always be a certain mystique about the General Electric GG1.
