Sacred Heart Cathedral

Sacred Heart Cathedral in 1941
Clifton Avenue pool in 1941.

Walt Sommer wrote in FB:  As a young boy growing up in Newark, in the late 1950s & early 1960s, I only knew about Boylan Street pool off of South Orange Ave. for a dime swim. Or Olympic Park at 90 cents. I shined shoes all up and down Springfield Avenue to earn my way in.

Victor DiBlasi wrote in FB: Nickel pretzels and 5 cents lemon-ice. Went there almost every day in the summer. My dad Thomas was the superintendent of the pool for a while. Great memories.
